The GoggleWorks Apartment building is built on a parcel of land made available through the cooperation of the City of Reading, the Reading Redevelopment Authority and the Developer. Building management is by the Reading Housing Authority. As such, all these agencies were part of the Design Team for this project.
The project was financed through FHA, HUD, PHFA and private local sources. It was completed in 2012 and contains 150,000 sq. ft. and parking spaces for 85 vehicles.
The GoggleWorks Apartment building is a five-story apartment building sitting on a one-story, above-grade parking structure. The deck above the parking is furnished for leisure use by residents. The parking structure is framed in steel and the apartment building is constructed of “light gage metal framing” faced with an acrylic finish system. The windows contain an operable portion for natural ventilation.
There are fifty-nine apartments, fifteen of which are one-bedroom and forty-four are two-bedroom units. The two-bedroom units have two full baths. Four units are “accessible” and twelve units are for rental assistance. Each apartment features hardwood floors, ceramic tile bathrooms, large closets and well-appointed kitchen and laundry furnished with Energy Star rated appliances. Individual heating and cooling units are provided for each apartment unit. A Fitness Center on the deck level is provided for all residents.
