This adaptive re-use of 34,000 square feet of space for Penn State Health-Saint Joseph Medical Center facility provides a complete range of patient healthcare services. These services include Family Practice, Women’s Services, X-ray, Ultra-Sound, Bone Densitometry, Mammography Imaging, Laboratory services, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.
This facility utilizes a “Provider Collaboration area” design which integrates Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nursing Practitioners into collaborative work areas embedded in the treatment areas.
Expansion of the existing services is planned for 2019.
The new one and a half story addition with exposed open heavy timber wood trusses replaced a small enclosed patio that served as a media room for the Sebastian family.
The families dream was to create a space that would be open and inviting to use for entertaining friends. The space is replete with eye catching architectural features, from the large stained glass windows on the front elevations to the central fireplace and a heavy timber framed opening leading to the existing Dining Room. A wood floor leads to a Powder Room off the Great Room. The addition is 650 sq. ft.
The exterior of the building was designed to complement the old English / Tudor half timber design feel of the existing home. The new Great Room received the 2003 Berks Home Remodeler’s Recognition Merit Award for Lukens Construction Company.
